About me

Dr Ronald Clark is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford where he leads the Perceptual Intelligence and Extended Reality Lab (PIXL). Before this he held an Imperial College Research Fellowship. Prior to that he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Dyson Robotics Lab.

Research interests

Ronald's research interests lie at the intersection of 3D computer vision and computer graphics. Specifically, his research is focussed on building the necessary algorithmic frameworks to capture faithful 3D representations of the world in realtime. The core aspects include:

  • Better 3D representations (eg. generative models and neural fields)
  • Embedding physics knowledge in the learning process (eg. multi-view geometry, light transport, raycasting)
  • Better optimization techniques for learning and fitting models in realtime
Ronald's research has received various forms of recognition including a CVPR Best Paper Honourable Mention Award.

Demos

Ronald has applied his work in a number of application domains - from home robots, to mobile apps. Below are some examples of the capabilities that his research has enabled.

Realtime SLAM
Scene Understanding
Motion Capture
